Parent Resources

Dear Parents,

At ST. MARK Catholic School we live out our Mission Statement on a daily basis.

ST. MARK Catholic School, an extension of our Parish, is a Christ-centered community, welcoming God’s children to continually grow in grace and wisdom. Recognizing the dignity and uniqueness of each child, we promote academic excellence through a faith-based education. By developing a Catholic foundation rooted in faith, knowledge and service, we send forth our students on their journey through life to share the light of Christ.

We recognize the importance of parents as primary educators and strive to work in conjunction with you in the best interests of your child’s development: physically, spiritually, academically, emotionally, and socially. To meet the needs of the individual and family, we offer a variety of clubs and activities, extended day programs, and a state licensed preschool program. You can find information about these programs here on the website, or stop by our office for further information.

I thank you for your support of ST. MARK Catholic School. Please let us know how we can help you as we work together to best meet the needs of your child/ren and family.

Blessings,
Mrs. Kimberly Parker
Principal

New Family FAQ

Carpool Pointers

  • DO turn off your engine once stopped at a cone.
  • DO stay in your car and let the safety patrol/adult help your child out of the car.
  • DO let children out of your car ONLY on the curb side (where safety patrol or adults are standing.)
  • DO drive below 10 mph anywhere on the church/school property. SLOW is always better for safety.
  • DO pull your car up close behind the car in front of you for both drop-off and pick-up times.
  • DO let children out of your car ONLY when the safety patrol or adults are ready to assist them in or out of the car.
  • DO tell your child what car to look for in the afternoon carpool line. (It helps speed the process.)
  • DO send an email to [email protected] if there is a change in carpool. The other driver must be cc’d on the email and they must confirm the switch via the email.
  • DO hang your carpool tag from your rearview mirror in the afternoon.
  • DO arrange for a carpool if you have not already done so. All families are required to participate in a carpool. We are under a mandate from Fairfax County to have 2.75 children in each car. Please help us do this!
  • DO NOT pick up students from the office between 3:15-3:30 p.m.
  • DO NOT use a cell phone in the carpool line.
  • DO NOT walk with children through the carpool line.

Thank you for your cooperation and for sharing your children with us!

If your child has asthma, please have his or her health care provider complete an Asthma Action Plan and an Inhaler Authorization form.

The nurse must have the parent’s permission to dispense any over-the-counter medications during the school day. If you wish to provide medication for your child to be dispensed as needed, please complete a Medication Authorization form. If your child needs to take a prescription medication during the school day, his or her health care provider must complete and sign the Medication Authorization form. All forms require a parent’s signature.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact the school nurse, Erin Philippart, at [email protected] or by calling (703) 281-9103 ext 444.

Uniform Guidelines

Schoology & Google Resources

During the first week of school, you should have received information on Schoology (pronounced skoo·luh·jee) and G-Suite for Education in your child’s communication folder. We are asking that parents help their child(ren) access their school-issued Google account and Schoology the first time at home. Schoology and Google should always be accessed through Google Chrome.

Please note that while Schoology includes some grades and a gradebook, the only OFFICIAL gradebook is PowerSchool (aka Parent Portal), which is accessible to parents with children in grades 3-8.

The Schoology website is: arlingtondiocese.schoology.com

Schoology username and password information (sample letter).
Each family received a letter in their communication folder with their child(ren)’s Schoology username and password.

We greatly appreciate your patience as we all learn to utilize this new educational tool. Students will receive ongoing instruction on how to use both Schoology and G-Suite for Education.
