Admissions

Our mission at ST. MARK Catholic School, an extension of our Parish, is to be a Christ-centered community, welcoming God’s children to continually grow in grace and wisdom. Recognizing the dignity and the uniqueness of each child, we promote academic excellence through a faith-based education. By developing a Catholic foundation “rooted in faith, knowledge and service,” we send forth our students on their journey through life to share the light of Christ.

Our program of strong academics and strong faith and moral development within a strong community is the hallmark of ST. MARK Catholic School.

Our challenging academic program employs critical thinking and exceeds local, state, and national standards. We strive to meet each child’s individual needs through differentiation, advanced academics, and small class sizes, all within a strong faith-based community.

Why Choose ST. MARK?

When choosing a school, what are the considerations one must make? In Northern Virginia, there are “good schools” aplenty. So, why come to ST. MARK Catholic School?

With our strong academics, strong values and strong community, our students find their gifts and talents and learn how to be successful in school and in life. If this is the kind of school you seek, then ST. MARK Catholic School is for you!

A 2015 Blue Ribbon School, named by the U.S. Department of Education, ST. MARK Catholic School has a current enrollment of 350 students. Here at ST. MARK, we seek to nurture the whole child: academically, spiritually, socially, emotionally, and physically. This commitment has helped our school to earn the Blue Ribbon distinction.

At ST. MARK Catholic School, children ages three years through grade eight grow in faith, knowledge and service under the instruction of experienced, caring teachers. Please take your time enjoying our website and learning about the many qualities that make ST. MARK a truly unique, Christ-centered community.

Since 2003, students have come to ST. MARK Catholic School eager to learn, are celebrated for their uniqueness, and allowed to grow to their own unique potential. ST. MARK Catholic School students share the light of Christ in all of their endeavors both in and out of the classroom. Our graduates excel in high school and beyond, attending Diocesan high schools, Gonzaga College High School and Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School in D.C., additional local private high schools, and some public high schools, including Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology.

Extended Day Care

We are thrilled to be able to offer extended care to our families for the 2023-24 school year.  Please contact the school office at 703-281-9103 if you have any questions.

This year we are able to offer EDC on a contract-only basis to students in grades K-8.  Contracts for the year are available for the following:

  • Mornings only (7:00am – 8:30am)
  • Afternoons only (3:30pm – 6:00pm, including 12:30pm – 6pm on early dismissal days)
  • Both mornings and afternoons, including 12:30pm – 6pm on early dismissal days

Extended Daycare (EDC) Information

Full Week: Contract

Thank you for your patience as we worked on our plans for 2023-2024.  For those families who would like to register their child(ren) for full-week EDC (5 days per week), please see the attached contract.  Rates for 23-24 have remained the same as they were last school year.  Please send completed contracts to our EDC Director, Ms. Thomas, at [email protected]. Contracts received by August 29 will be given priority.

Partial Week:

Because EDC must adhere to student/teacher ratios prescribed to daycare centers, staffing greatly affects the number of students that can be in EDC each day.  Schools across the country, SMCS included, are facing staffing challenges.  As a result, partial-week EDC cannot be guaranteed at this time.  If you are interested in EDC on a partial-week basis only, please fill out the attached interest form and return it to Ms. Thomas via email or in-person at Welcome Back Day.  Partial-day availability will be evaluated beginning August 29.

The EDC program is outlined and described in the Extended Day section of the Parent/Student Handbook.
